Ameer al-mo'mineen has narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said during his conversations: The scholars are of two types, the one who follows the teachings and get success and the other one who forget the teachings and get destroyed and among the people of hell, the most humiliated will be one who invited someone towards Islam and gave him the teachings but he did not followed the teachings and himself and that’s why he was saint to hell. Followings the desires stops from the righteous and long wishes make forget the hereafter.
