قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: الْكَمَالُ كُلُ الْكَمَالِ التَّفَقُّهُ فِي الدِّينِ وَ الصَّبْرُ عَلَى النَّائِبَةِ وَ تَقْدِيرُ الْمَعِيشَةِ.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: "(For a perfect human being) Perfection lies in three things: 1. Understanding and getting insight into religion. 2. Having patience during troubles and problems. 3. And to monitor your expenses and your imports (keeping the right account of investment and spending, and avoiding extravagance).

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: عَالِمٌ يُنْتَفَعُ بِعِلْمِهِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفَ عَابِدٍ.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: "The scholar whose knowledge is beneficial is better than seventy thousand worshippers.

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: مَنْ طَلَبَ الْعِلْمَ لِيُبَاهِيَ بِهِ الْعُلَمَاءَ أَوْ يُمَارِيَ بِهِ السُّفَهَاءَ أَوْ يَصْرِفَ بِهِ وُجُوهَ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ إِنَّ الرِّئَاسَةَ لَا تَصْلُحُ إِلَّا لِأَهْلِهَا.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: The one who studies for the sake of arrogance and proudness among the scholars or for the sake of arguing with the shallow-minded or to attain the attention of people towards himself, then he has declared the fire of Hell his place." Of course, this state is not suitable for anyone other than his own self.

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: الظُّلْمُ ثَلَاثَةٌ ظُلْمٌ يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ وَ ظُلْمٌ لَا يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ وَ ظُلْمٌ لَا يَدَعُهُ فَأَمَّا الظُّلْمُ الَّذِي لَا يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَالشِّرْكُ بِاللَّهِ وَ أَمَّا الظُّلْمُ الَّذِي يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَظُلْمُ الرَّجُلِ نَفْسَهُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَ بَيْنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ أَمَّا الظُّلْمُ الَّذِي لَا يَدَعُهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَالْمُدَايَنَةُ بَيْنَ الْعِبَادِ وَ قَالَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ مَا يَأْخُذُ الْمَظْلُومُ مِنْ دِينِ الظَّالِمِ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّا يَأْخُذُ الظَّالِمُ مِنْ دُنْيَا الْمَظْلُوم.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: Cruelty is of three types: 1. The cruelty which is unforgiving by God. 2. The cruelty which is forgiven by God. 3. And the injustice which God does not forgive nor turn a blind eye to. The injustice that God never forgives is to compare someone with God. The cruelty that God forgives is a human committing a wrongdoing (i.e. committing a sin) which has been done between him and his God, and the injustice which God does not forgive is a debt to one other that is wasted/not completed. Then he said: "What the oppressed people take from a wrongdoer's religion is far greater than what a wrongdoer takes from the oppressed people's world."

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: مَنْ لَمْ يَجْعَلِ اللَّهُ لَهُ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ وَاعِظاً فَإِنَّ مَوَاعِظَ النَّاسِ لَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْهُ شَيْئاً.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: People's admonitions will not benefit him whom God does not teach a lesson of admonition from his own self.

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: مَنْ كَانَ ظَاهِرُهُ أَرْجَحَ مِنْ بَاطِنِهِ خَفَّ مِيزَانُهُ.
Imam Muhammad Baqir said: The scale of good deeds of him whose outer appearance is more preferable than his conscience will be lighter (on the Day of Judgement).

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: إِيَّاكَ وَ الْكَسَلَ وَ الضَّجَرَ فَإِنَّهُمَا مِفْتَاحُ كُلِّ شَرٍّ مَنْ كَسِلَ لَمْ يُؤَدِّ حَقّاً وَ مَنْ ضَجِرَ لَمْ يَصْبِرْ عَلَى حَقٍّ.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: "Avoid laziness and pettiness/tiredness because these two are the key to every evil. The one who remains lazy cannot fulfill any rights and the one who remains petty cannot have patience on the path of righteousness."

قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: وَ اللَّهِ لَمَوْتُ عَالِمٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَى إِبْلِيسَ مِنْ مَوْتِ سَبْعِينَ عَابِداً.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: "By God, the death of a scholar near Satan is more beloved than the death of seventy worshippers."

Abusing is a weapon of lowlife.
قَالَ الإمام أَبُوْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ الْبَاقِرُ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: سِلَاحُ اللِّئَامِ قَبِيحُ الْكَلَامِ.
Imam Muhammad Baqir (A.S) said: The weapon of shallow people is the usage of the rough tongue.
